This past Wednesday, and for the fourth year in a row, The Ragbirds proved they’re the perfect band for Live at Larkin with a uniquely fun and vibrant set that left another large crowd abuzz with praise; the feel-good scene was completed by so many family and friends welcoming home from Ann Arbor their sibling duo of Erin & TJ Zindle, plus a father-son pairing onstage in Geno & Aidan McManus of opening act Stoneflower – true to our form, it was a family affair in Larkin Square!
Speaking of the stage – we appreciate the feedback form our guests as we experimented with a different stage setup these past three Wednesdays; going forward, we’ve decided to move the stage back to its original location. Live at Larkin is as much a community event as it is a concert, and this decision was made with input from our wonderful community of frequent guests. Thank you all for your support – we hope to welcome another big crowd for another special feature in Week 6, with the debut EP release party for another of our favorite musicians, Vinnie DeRosa.
Similar to Erin Zindle, Vinnie’s vibe is pure sunshine – he lights up rooms for a living, leading his own group Vitamin D while being called on for special occasion bands such as The Buffalovebirds at The Buffalo Zoo’s annual Buffalovefest, and last night’s Critt’s Juke Joint/BPO tribute to Stevie Wonder at Canalside.
Vinnie’s music is moving in every way, and this recording of original songs is long in the making, featuring a fleet of Buffalo’s finest players behind him including keyboard ace Toney Rhodes, whose own debut album “The Buffalo Spell” will take the spotlight during the opening set. “People who make it down to the show can expect to hear the freshest sounds representing our great city,” Vinnie told The Buffalo News as part of a preview in this week’s Gusto. “Players from many different backgrounds will be coming together to create a ‘ONELOVE’ experience full of nourishing and uplifting vibrations.”
