Rochelle Bilow to speak at Larkin Square Author Series

Call of the Farm.3D coverRochelle Bilow, staff writer for Bon Appetit magazine and writer of the new book The Call of the Farm: An Unexpected year of Getting Dirty, Home Cooking, and Finding Myself  will be speaking at Larkin Square Author Talks, Monday, September 29th, 2014 at 5:30 pm. Please note the new start time in response to requests for a little more time to arrive at Larkin Square. Doors to the Filling Station will open at 4:45 pm for purchases of drinks, food and books ( book sales courtesy of Talking Leaves).

Rochelle spent a year on a farm in Central New York. The book takes us through the nitty gritty of living on the farm..amongst many people and animals! Along the way we become involved in the changing seasons through what is growing, plant and animal, what is cooking in the farm kitchen and a year of romance from start to finish!  The book is engaging from the start. During Rochelle’s talk, we will be offering up one of her seasonal recipes, chard pesto.

Joining Rochelle will be Dan Roelofs from Arden Farm. Produce from Arden Farms is offered weekly at Food Truck Tuesdays along with a booth at our Larkin Market this summer.  Dan will share about the joys and challenges of running a small farm along with the special history linking Arden Farm and The Larkin Soap Co.

If you enjoy local food, seasonal recipes, want to know more about living on a farm and more…join us Monday for another edition of the Larkin Square Author Series.  For more on Rochelle, click here for her website.
